AIA TALLAHASSEE HONOR AWARDS

Registration forms and fees are due on Friday, OCTOBER 23rd. All fees are NON-REFUNDABLE.

Entries must be received before the deadline to be considered. Submissions are due by 5:00 pm on October 23, 2026.

In order to encourage excellence in architecture, the Tallahassee Chapter of the American Institute of Architects announces its annual Honor Awards Program. Through this program, AIA Tallahassee seeks to honor works of distinction by its members and bring public attention to outstanding examples of Architecture.

AWARDS:
Ten levels of awards are possible:

  1. Architect Award: This award is intended to recognize a professional who has continuously expanded the role of the architect through civic participation and professional mentorship in addition to creating a body of distinguished architectural work. It recognizes individuals whose work has had a lasting influence on the theory and practice of architecture.
  2. Architect for Advocacy Award: This award is intended to recognize those who have contributed to their communities through service on not-for-profit boards, governmental offices or boards, design charrettes or any other effort that demonstrates the leadership of the architect as a citizen in the community.
  3. Young Architect Award: This award is intended to recognize new professionals who have expanded the role of the architect through civic participation, professional mentorship, and professional accomplishments. The Young Architect Award is presented to a member for professional achievement and leadership during their early years in the profession.
  4. Emerging Professional Award: This award is intended to recognize an Associate who has expanded the role of the associate AIA through civic participation, professional mentorship, and professional accomplishments. The Emerging Professional Award is presented to a member for professional achievement and leadership during their years in the profession.
  5. Firm of the Year Award: The Architecture Firm of the Year Award recognizes one firm whose passion and practice have produced notable architecture for at least a decade. Deserving firms will have
    demonstrated excellence in design and leadership through any combination of the following criteria: the breadth and/or depth of their portfolio, a healthy firm culture, influence on the practice of architecture, exemplary outcomes for clients and/or society.
  6. Patron of the Profession Award: The Patron of the Profession Award is given in recognition of significant contributions to, or particular support of, the profession and business of Architecture and/or the built environment. Anyone working in state or local government such as legislators, department secretaries, township officials, etc. are eligible for the award as an individual or specified group.
  7. Architectural Educator Award: The Architectural Educator Award is given to an individual for their excellence in the advancement of architectural education at all levels (K-12, University, and/or Post-Graduate) through teaching, design, scholarship, research, or service.
  8. Student Award & Scholarship: This award is intended to recognize a student who has exemplified themselves through civic participation and quality of work. The Student Award is presented to a student based on merit and need and for educational achievement in leadership during their years at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University. The winner will also receive a monetary scholarship from AIA Tallahassee. Commitment to local!

A jury of practicing professional architects whose work and reputation have been established at the national level will select these awards. Winners will be announced and awards will be presented during the 2026 AIA Tallahassee Annual Christmas Party. The Jury for these awards will be the board of AIA Greenville.
